Adult Ministry

Our Adult Sunday School consists of small groups that meet on Sunday mornings at 8:00, 9:30 or 11:00 a.m.  We would love to have you join us as we study the Bible and fellowship with one another. No matter where you are in your spiritual journey, building friendships with other Christians is vital for your spiritual growth. Our goal is to provide an opportunity for you to grow in your knowledge and application of the Bible while enjoying the fellowship and encouragement of your classmates.

We offer a variety of groups to choose from that include special classes for Couples, Men, Women, Singles, etc.  We hope that you will visit several of our classes until you find the perfect place for you. Stop by the Welcome Center, located behind the Worship Center for a current listing of groups. These small groups are the heartbeat of our fellowship. This is where close relationships are formed and individual ministry takes place.

  • Getting Involved

There are numerous opportunities for Adults to get involved in the life of the church at FBCO. In addition to Sunday School classes on Sunday mornings and Discipleship classes on Wednesday nights, we have so many ways that you can use your spiritual gifts to further the work of Christ in our church and community.

    International Mission Trips
We have several yearly international mission trips that usually occur in the summer months. Currently, we take groups to Honduras and Costa Rica and are planning to expand our mission focus to more countries. Information on the trips usually is posted in late fall or early winter. The trips fill up quickly, so if you are interested, sign up early.

Volunteering in the Youth, Children, or Preschool Ministries
Our young people are the foundation of the future. They need godly men and women to help equip them with the teachings of Jesus so they can live strong in our broken world. We have classes on Sunday and Wednesday for babies through high school. If you are interested in working with Youth, grades 7 – 12, please contact Dan Strickland at dans@fbcopelika.com. Our Minister to Children, grades 1–6, is Taylor Teel. He can be contacted at taylort@fbcopelika.com. Sherrie Crowley serves as our Minister to Preschool. Her contact info is sherriec@fbcopelika.com. Make a difference in the life of a young person.

    And so much more…
Mentoring College Students, Single Adult Ministry, Short-Term Stateside Missions, Women’s Ministry, Men’s Ministry, Marriage Conferences, Holy Land Pilgrimages. Let us know if you have a special gift or talent that could be used for the glory of God in the life of FBCO. See our Service Opportunities tab for additional information or contact Alan Jones at alanj@fbcopelika.com.

  • Hearing Impaired Ministry

When Jesus commanded us to make disciples of all peoples, the command included the deaf and hearing impaired. We are thankful to be able to offer this ministry to our church and community. It is a wonderful thing to see someone who is either deaf or hearing impaired be impacted by God’s Word in a meaningful way, and we are blessed because of it.

On Sundays at 9:30 a.m., we have a Sunday School class for the deaf/hearing impaired that meets in Room 114 in the main building. Both hearing and hearing impaired individuals participate in the class.

We also have an interpreter for the 11:00 a.m. worship service.

Our desire at FBCO is to reach the deaf/hearing impaired for Jesus Christ. Our hope is that those of you who are deaf/hearing impaired can live a victorious Christian life in the deaf community and be a light to your friends and family.
